Let’s talk Fashion Rental Platforms

Fashion rental platforms are popping up everywhere at the moment & we are so glad to see the rise of renting clothes instead of buying. If you are looking for something to wear to a wedding, a special occasion or on holidays, renting is a more affordable & more sustainable option, and allows you to enjoy fashion guilt-free.

Spending a huge amount of money on a dress that you may only wear once to a special occasion always seems like a waste. It’s a waste of both money & the dress itself that will sit in your wardrobe gathering dust for a few years before you have something to wear it to again. Renting occasionwear is a much better option as the dresses get so much more wear & don’t end up sitting in a wardrobe for years. It also gives you the opportunity to wear amazing designer dresses that would usually be way outside your budget at a fraction of the price.

Renting is also a much more sustainable option. If you ever feel guilty about the amount of clothes you are buying, even if you always have occasions coming up you need something new for, renting is a great option. It prolongs the lifespan of clothes & greatly decreases the environmental impact of fashion.

We are so lucky in Ireland because there are so many amazing fashion rental businesses that have gorgeous occasionwear. We have created a list of a few of our favourite businesses & a few of our favourite rental options from each.

Drobey

Drobey, founded last year by Nicky & Ella Dwyer, is a rental platform that aims to take the guilt out of keeping up with fast fashion trends & experimenting with one-off looks. Drobey encourages you to invest in your staples and they’ll take care of the rest, providing unique, high-quality occasionwear for you to rent for any occasion. They stock dresses from all of the best high-end designer brands & rent them at a fraction of the price. They also have a gorgeous showroom in Dublin, where you can book an appointment to call in, try on a few dresses & decide which is best for your occasion.

Happy Days

Happy Days Fashion Rental was founded by Rachel Hennessy when she realised that fast fashion has created a demand for “newness” that has no place in a sustainable future. Rachel wanted to do something to help remedy the bad habits of the industry, and Happy Days was founded. Happy Days aim to be inclusive and sustainable, and their goal is to provide an innovative circular way of accessing fashionable items for special occasions.

Gúna Rentals

Guna Rentals is based in Tuam & have a gorgeous selection of special occasion dresses. Their inspiration is never wearing the same dress twice while still being sustainable.

Greens are Good for You

Greens are Good for You, founded by Johanna & Kara, is all about unique dopamine dressing in a more affordable & sustainable way. Their goal is to allow their customers to consume with a conscience, knowing they are consuming fashion in the most sustainable way they can. They make aspirational brands accessible to everyone at affordable prices. The names Green are Good for You is inspired by how good they feel when they wear colourful clothes, which they have plenty of on their platform.
