Hot Pod Yoga. Orla’s after work ritual.

Exercise can be gruelling in the winter months and motivating ourselves to do it is near to impossible. I know that when I finish a long day in the office and the evenings are dark at 4pm, the last thing I want to do is drag myself to the Gym. Recently I have been visiting a Hot Yoga Studio in Notting Hill called Hot Pod Yoga. These hot pods are located in several locations over London and are the perfect way to heat your body up and de stress after a long day at your desk.

Hot yoga is a vigorous form of yoga practiced in a heated and humidified room. The practice is typically based on the traditional series of yoga poses, but it is performed in a room heated to a high temperature.

I adore hot yoga - mainly for the fact that I get to lie in a 40 degree heated pod after a rainy working day in the city but it also comes with a tonne of health benefits that every person can benefit from, including but not limited to:

  1. Increased Flexibility

The heat allows your muscles to warm up and become more pliable, making it easier to stretch and improve your flexibility.

2. Detoxification

Sweating profusely helps in the elimination of toxins through the skin, promoting a sense of cleansing and detoxification.

3. Enhanced Circulation

The heat in the room makes your heart work harder, improving cardiovascular health and increasing blood circulation throughout the body.

4. Improved Balance and Strength

Hot yoga poses often require a significant amount of balance and strength, helping to tone and strengthen muscles over time.

5. Stress Reduction

Like other forms of yoga, hot yoga emphasises mindfulness, breathing techniques, and meditation. These practices can help reduce stress and promote relaxation.
